Examples of Qualitative and Quantitative Research

Understanding Research
What is meant by research? In general, the notion of research is a process of inquiry that is carried out actively, diligently, and systematically, where the aim is to find, interpret, and revise facts.

Definition of Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is research that is used to examine the condition of natural objects, where researchers are key instruments (Sugiyono, 2005). Whereas According to Moleong (2005: 6), qualitative research is research that intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the subject of research such as behavior, perception, motivation, action, etc. holistically, and by way of description in the form of words and language, in a special natural context and by utilizing various natural methods.
Example: Analysis of Students' Difficulties in Completing Class X High School Algebra Questions.

Definition of Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is a process of finding the knowledge that uses data in the form of numbers as a tool to analyze information about what you want to know. (Kasiram (2008: 149). Quantitative research is systematic scientific research on parts and phenomena and their relationships. The purpose of research quantitative is to develop and use mathematical models, theories and/or hypotheses related to natural phenomena. The process of measurement is a central part of quantitative research because it provides a fundamental relationship between empirical observation and mathematical expression of quantitative relations.
Quantitative research is widely used in both the natural sciences and the social sciences, from physics and biology to sociology and journalism. This approach is also used as a way to examine various aspects of education. The term quantitative research is often used in the social sciences to distinguish it from qualitative research.
