Scientific publication is one of the obligations of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, a lecturer. Besides, for teachers, it is also needed during a promotion (administrative requirements). But there are not a few lecturers or teachers who find it difficult to write papers, so they fail in these scientific publications.
On this occasion, the author would like to share how to write a simple paper well. Hopefully, it is useful, but before the author apologizes, it does not mean patronizing because the author is also studying in writing excellent essays/articles.
Title
The title should be briefly compact. Make sure the research variable is in the title. Then the location and year of the study should not be included. Example:
The Influence of the TGT Method on Learning Outcomes in Circle Materials of Grade X Students of SMAN 1 Field Academic Year 2018/2019.
This title can be changed accordingly but does not alter the content of the research. For example:
- Improving Student Learning Outcomes through the Application of the TGT Model
- The Effect of the TGT Method on Student Learning Outcomes in Circle X Class Material of High School
or it can be with other editors without having to include the location and year of the research, the important thing is that the research variable becomes the main idea in the title.
Abstract
The abstract is a summary of research results containing: Research Objectives, Research Methods or Models (Research Objects, Instruments, Data Collection Methods, Data Analysis Techniques), and Research Results. So, make sure these 3 components are delivered in a brief, concise, solid abstract section.
Example:
This study aims to develop mathematical learning modules using inquiry learning models that are valid, effective, and practical. The object of research is 20 students of class X high school. This study uses a 4-D model which includes defining, design, develop, and dissemination. The research instrument used was a questionnaire guideline with a Likert scale 4, observation and interview guidelines. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the module developed was valid with an average score of 3.12; active with an average rating of 4.12, and practical with an average score of 3.56. So that the module developed has been appropriately used in learning mathematics at school.
This abstract is only a minimal example, can be developed and clarified better.
Introduction
In this section, you are asked to submit scientific reasons, references or previous research so you can see your research road map/state of the art. Then the urgency and purpose of the study need to be conveyed in this section. Avoid expressing too many opinions yourself. If you want to send the problem statement, it's okay.
Research methods
In this section, you are asked to convey about the type of research, research/development methods/models used, research variables, number of respondents or participants, instruments used, techniques and data analysis.
Results and Discussion
There are also those who write the Results and Discussion. In essence, in this section, you are asked to present the results of the research in the form of data, graphics, and results of data analysis both descriptive and inferencing. Then continue the description of the results of the data analysis. Try every table or graph followed by an explanation of what, why, for what ?. Then each justification of the results strives to be followed by supporting theories. Usually, in this section,, the mixed analysis of relevant data and research is an interesting discussion. Finally, in this section new findings are also available if any.
Conclusion
In this section, it is naturally in the form of paragraphs, not points per point. So are suggestions. Here you are asked to write briefly the final results of the research that you have done. The advice in question is more directed at the next researcher, what topics need to be studied, then it can also be conveyed from the application if developing the product (R & D research). If you don't want to bother, just conclude 1 paragraph and suggest 1 section.
Acknowledgments
This section may or may not exist. Thank you to mentors, related and assisting institutions, funding providers (if funded by other parties).
Bibliography
This section does look simple, but many writers take a long time to organize and tidy up this section. Because usually, the journal has its own style and style in writing bibliography or references.
You can read various styles of library writing here.
